Amazon, Google, and Netflix have capitalised on them but they should be in your business as well. This talk shows you how to build a recommender system. This presentation covers characteristics of a good recommender system from scientific and business perspectives. It also provides a review of various algorithmic approaches to recommender system, such as collaborative filtering, content based, matrix factorisation and other modern approaches. This talk outlines different measures of performance quality and elaborates on experimental design. Bio Maksud Ibrahimov is a Chief Data Scientist at InfoReady, leading Australian data and analytics consultancy. Maksud got his Ph.D. from the University of Adelaide in application of evolutionary computation methods to real world supply chain problems. In the past, Maksud has developed state of the art decision support, optimization and machine learning systems with SolveIT Software, Schneider Electric and ABB. He has consulted for the largest Australian mining, telecommunication, retail and manufacturingcompanies. He is a founder of Adaptic Solutions, a boutique data science consultancy, which later has been acquired by InfoReady and MelbourneIT.
