About Recipe
This dish is a simple Chinese-American inspired stir-fry that can be whipped up in minutes, the ingredients are very easy to get as they will appear in most mainstream markets like Coles or from those small Asian markets
Hokkien Noodles
200 g
Lean Beef
150 g
Zucchini
50 g
Broccoli
50 g
Onion
1 whole
Sugar
5 g
Step
1
Firstly you'd want to velvet the beef earlier in advance by mixing it with the baking soda, this will help it be more tender when cooking as we don't want to have tough beef in this meal
Step
2
Now prep the ingredients by cutting them.
For the onions, you want to cut it into quarters
Step
3
To prep the zucchini, chop it into small bite sized pieces, big enough to grab with a fork and small enough to fit in your mouth in one bite
Step
4
To prep the broccoli, chop off the fleurettes into small bite sized pieces
Step
5
Now to prep the sauce to pour over the whole meal, we want to mix cornstarch and water together to make a slurry, this will provide thickening to make the sauce coat the noodles evenly.
Step
6
Mix the slurry, soy sauce, dark soy sauce and sugar together and keep it ready
Step
7
Next to quickly blanch the broccoli, you can cover it in a thin layer of water and microwave for 30 seconds on medium, this will slightly blanch the broccoli to get rid of that raw taste
Step
8
Now for the cooking process, you'd want to add the onions in at high heat for 2 minutes or until it has developed colour
Step
9
Next add in the zucchini and broccoli in for 30 seconds
Step
10
Next add the beef in
Step
11
Until the beef has developed colour, add in the sauce
Step
12
Until the sauce is thickened to your liking, add the noodles in and mix
Step
13
If the sauce is way to thick, add some stock or water. If it's too thin, add some more corn starch slurry
Step
14
You can season the dish at this point to your liking
Step
15
To serve, put in a bowl or plate and garnish with chopped green onion and sprinkle over sesame seeds for colour
Step
16
Enjoy!
